What makes Artistry Apothecary wax melts sustainable?

We're glad you asked! When choosing the wax we would use to make our melts it was really important to us that we chose a sustainable blend, so when we came across rapeseed and coconut wax we just knew it was for us.

Regular paraffin wax comes from crude oil, which is an unsustainable source that can damage marine eco-systems during extraction and spills. Therefore, plant-based waxes are a much more environmentally friendly option and as soy farming can lead to deforestation and habitat loss, rapeseed and coconut wax is by far the most sustainable wax we have come across.

To top if off all of our packaging, including the PET clamshells (made from 86% recycled materials), labels and postage materials are recyclable or re-used.

What makes Artistry Apothecary wax melts vegan-friendly?

We ensure that all of our ingredients and packaging (even the ink used to print our labels!!) are vegan-friendly; meaning there are no animal derivatives in our products and nothing is EVER tested on animals!

Why don't you use essential oils in your wax melts?

This is something we find tough; when we first set out to make wax melts we always wanted to make a natural aromatherapy-type range, however the more we looked into it the more we became unsure. Essential oil manufacture takes a huge tole on the environment due to the amount of land, water and time it takes to produce them, not to mention the pesticides used if the oils aren't organic. Plus, certain essential oils can have adverse affects on pets and pregnant women, so lots of care is needed when using them around the home!

One of our melt blends (Spa Day) contains lavender essential oil, which has many health benefits, but please always check which oils are safe to burn around pets and pregnant women.

How do I burn my wax melts safely?

Remove your wax melt from its clam shell, break off one segment and place it in the top of your burner. Light the tea light or switch on your electric burner and after a couple of minutes your wax melt will be well on its way to liquefying and releasing its amazing scent.

While your burner is in use ensure you keep it out of reach of children or pets and always keep it in sight, do not leave it unattended or try to move it!!

Once the tea light has been extinguished or the electric burner turned off, the wax will solidify ready for its next use. The wax will not evaporate as seen with candles but the scent will slowly diminish. You should expect to get 6-12 hours of scent out of each segment.
